How It Started

OTHER Industries originally started in a basement printing shirts for our own clothing projects. What began as a way to make apparel for ourselves gradually evolved into a full production studio built around a genuine appreciation for clothing, graphic design, music culture, and physical goods that feel intentional and lasting.

Before OTHER Industries became a business, it already existed within the communities we were part of. Streetwear culture, underground music, DIY clothing, graphic design, and making things for our friends all helped shape the way we approach production today. Every project we take on is still influenced by that same hands on mindset and connection to the culture that inspired us to start printing in the first place.

We chose the name OTHER Industries because we wanted to build something that felt different from a traditional print shop. The goal was to create a studio that felt more connected to design, culture, music, and independent brands rather than a generic production company. The name became a reflection of the kinds of projects and people we naturally gravitated toward.

Design & Printmaking Influence

Our background originally started in graphic design, but the studio was heavily shaped by the unofficial education we received from friends at University of the Arts who were studying printmaking. Watching them make their own t-shirts, print gig posters, and build independent clothing brands that were being sold to friends and small boutiques around Philadelphia inspired us to learn the process for ourselves.

We spent years around artists, poster printers, and independent makers working out of basements, garages, and small studios throughout Philadelphia. That environment taught us the value and power of the DIY mentality, along with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, experimentation, and the level of care required to produce something that actually lasts.

Our Approach

We believe great apparel production is about more than simply putting ink on garments. Every project requires thoughtful decisions around garment selection, print method, artwork preparation, finishing, and production quality. Our goal is to create products that not only look good online, but also feel good in hand, hold up over time, and properly represent the people behind them.

We approach production with a balance of design awareness, technical experience, and hands on craftsmanship. Whether we are producing merchandise for a touring band, apparel for a small business, or large scale wholesale production runs, we care deeply about the details that separate average products from pieces people actually want to wear.
